Footsteps in China Intro or Index

Back Next to last day: Flight to Beijing delayed because of intense fog…I think the pollution made it worse. Got put in the airport hotel until mid-afternoon. Slept most of the time before eating a hurried lunch and playing cards, "Bullshit", with the professors and assorted classmates in the lobby. Back in the Minzu Hotel - got ready (once back late that afternoon) for the Peking Opera at another hotel. Ate another good meal before sitting in the balcony. Two skits: one hour total, based on Chinese folklore. One was about a general/soldier and an innkeeper. Another called "The Pearl" or some such was about a nymph who disobeys the immortal god's code and marries a human scholar. A pearl is given that saves them in the end after a long battle with immortals. Lots of cool costumes, acrobatics, and high-pitched, squeaky dialogue. I enjoyed it and took lots of pictures.
